CHAIRPERSONS FORWARD

Mansa District Women Development Association (MDWDA) is a NGO which was established in 1998 and was registered in 2000.The goal of the organization is to empower women socially, economically, culturally, politically and technologically so that they can be able to compete favourably in all sectors of their life hence eradicating all forms of marginalization. We operate in all the eight chiefdoms of Mansa District namely:Mabumba,Mibenge,Matanda,Milambo,Chimese,Kalasalukangaba,Kasomalwela,Kalaba and Chisunka.

With the help of Finnish Embassy,we started training of paralegals and upto now we have 120 who are spread in the villages helping the community especially women know about their rights. This was necessary due to the high rates of Gender based violence.

We are also dealing with land issues and Building Local Democracy a project sponsored by MS.ActionAid Zambia. This is running in two chiefdoms of Mibenge and Kasomalwela.

NGOCC has also helped us to start Income Generating activities by buying us hummer mills.Through members contribution we have started poultry project to help raise funds.

Generally MDWDA was started by poor women who are so much marginallized in all sectors of life. There is high level of poverty and illiteracy hence my appeal to our development partners is to help us financilly so that we can continue empowering these poor women.Thank you.
