BRIEF ABOUT MDWA
Mansa District Women development Association (DWDA) is a district umbrella organization for women groups in Mansa District in Luapula Province with the membership of 2571. It was formed in 1999 and registered in 2000 with the Registrar of societies. It is a membership organization governed by District Board representing 25 Area Associations. The Board constitutes from 25 Area women association, which nominates one member to the district council that works with the Secretariat in managing the association. MDWDA is based in Mansa in Luapula Province
MDWDA seeks to respond to the high poverty and illiteracy levels and the limited participation in local governance structures of women and girls children in Mansa District. The MDWDA’s organization mandate is inspired by their vision and mission.
MDWDA has a proven track record in the promotion of gender and governance related work, facilitating for participation of women in community service activities and involvement in leadership positions.
